Belgacom

Back to the company where I really started my career. More or less, because the place and team had changed. During a 3 months consultancy mission, I've been working on Deezer integration (releases and playlists), on the internal contest engine (+ documenting the tool) and most notably I've contributed to the Festivals website for the Music channel. Technically this was great for me as I learned SASS and Compass, as well as using more relative units to deliver highly maintainable code.

RMB

RMB is an advertising company founded by RTBF and the Belgian Advertising Cinema. It's monetizing advertising space on TV, Radio and Interactive medias. I integrated around 75% of their website. Besides the integration of the clean design, here are some points of interest handled with Javascript: main menu acting as a sliding panel; some carousels on the homepage; Focus block fixed when the page is scrolled further down in order to always keep it visible; sliding panels to present various offers and promotions; custom form component in the Events section.

I've been working 3 years long in RTBF via DS Improve (1 year) and Dreamwall (2 years). When I got there, only Classic21 and PureFM got their renewed websites. The goal being to update all radio and tv channels, we decided to set up a common structure to enforce code reuse. I've been responsible for creating and maintaining common integration components of the in-house PHP framework. Eventually it was about 20 websites, among them: Info, Sport, TV, La Une, La Deux, La Trois, Ouftivi, Radio, Classic21, PureFM, La Premiere, Musiq3, Vivacité. The most important ones I had to handle were the TV and Info (the most visited one) projects. Beside this, I've been working several times with Wordpress, mainly for TV shows (D6bels, Ma Terre, Genies en Web) but also Culture and Cap48 websites. I was the single point of contact regarding WP outsourcing.

Vittel

Complete integration of Vittel's belgian site. Through multiple geological depths, Vittel's natural mineral water has been loaded with essential minerals, required by the human body. In both French and Dutch this presents the company's history, ecological concerns and the current promotions on the products. Technically, the majority of content is split into multiple pages with a custom Javascript content pager, keeping it optimized for search engines indexing while improving user experience.

Eurocockpit

Eurocockpit Association is the representative body of European pilots at European Union (EU) level. It represents over 38,000 European pilots from the National pilot Associations in 37 European states. The website presents the various airflight domains of expertise (aerodromes, air traffic management, helicopters,...). Afterwhat, ECA engages debate, as it's committed to flight safety, with the Positions and Actions sections. The media section gives you access to press releases, newsletters, videos, podcasts and publications. Besides all this information, the site has a Member Area where pilots can get more private information about upcoming events and latest inside news. They can also access archived documents depending on the level of security they are assigned to. With their Dead-Tired campaign website, it's always been great for me to look for and propose solutions to ECA's requests in a way they can update most things without needing additional help.

XYfi (Option)

XYfi (Option) screenshot
I've been integrating a local interface for Option whose XYfi product is running on a USB thumbdrive. The application consists of several HTML pages offering the following services to its users: 3G connections (network, connection method, ping settings,...), access point (wifi, security settings), hotspot profiles, sms, support summary (network connection, device details, config file,...). To achieve all this, heavy customized forms were required. Most of form inputs were customized and received very detailed validation settings. Help messages could be presented in different ways: by asking for it, when clicking a link, by validating a choice, by making a mistake or even contextually when choosing an option. This enforced the overall usability. The result is a very professional product. To this day, this is my biggest Javascript project.

Lesieur

I've been integrating most of the Cuisine Populaire section. This colorful website adapts to most displays following the traditional mobile - tablet - desktop pattern. On mobile it's particularly different from the other versions, increasing the overall usability. This marketing and informal website showcases recipes, advices and events.

Freshclub (Perrier)

Freshclub aims for its members to scan QR code in order to win exclusive prizes. I did partial integration on this project, mainly Javascript work: the login popup, a custom scroll system used in different places, a customized carousel on the "How it works" page, a tabbing system for the Picto gallery.

Dreamwall

  • Drupal
  • Integration
Dreamwall screenshot
Beside working on RTBF projects, I had some projects directly related to Dreamwall, namely: Dreamwall, Keywall and GoWest websites. The first 2 are very similar, front-end wise. I converted their existing integration to a Drupal theme and configured the CMS (content types, taxonomies, etc...). For Dreamwall, have a look at the Activities and Projects pages which are the core of the website. For GoWest I also did the integration. These projects made me discover the Features module which was of great help to share code with the team thanks to a versioning system.

CCIC Hervé Lesne

CCIC Hervé Lesne screenshot
Multilingual website for CCIC real estate agency, based in Brussels. The responsive site displays latest rentings and sales and allows you to get really fast in contact with the agency if you want to get more info about an offer. The challenge of this project was to handle data coming from Esimmo++, during the project that changed to Esimmo.NET, the agency software. This is quite priceless for the collaborators who only have to update their existing offers listings and push a button to export data to the website. A bridge has been created between the output data and the web interface powered by Drupal, allowing us to inject it into new or existing nodes. Sales and rentings contain around 30 different fields, most of them being shared.

Belgacom Skynet

  • Integration
Belgacom Skynet screenshot
This was my first job as an employee. I started with CSS and XHTML knowledge I had previously acquired on my own, which at that time was not widespread; that allowed me to discover and convert several existing channels (about 30) of the existing Skynet website. Of course, I learned a lot over there during almost 3 years (XHTML, CSS, Prototype & jQuery frameworks) doing small stuff like contests, advertorials (one shot) pages, but also defining the base components of new and bigger projects like the new portal segments (especially Actu&Sports), 11online (dedicated to BGC football channel); I also did some ActionScript (Flash) development on KidCity and some times on the main portal. So I did some games like memory, a flipping wishlist book (with deeplinking), an event (christmas, birthday,...) comics card sending system for kids. Eventually, I wrote some guidelines and teached integration stuff and best practices to my team mates.

Dead-Tired

  • Drupal
  • Integration
Dead-Tired screenshot
Campaign website for the Eurocockpit Association to alert the UE about safety flights. The focus is put on pilot fatigue with its problem, facts and solution. News, videos and pictures keep visitors up to date with latest information available on the matter. This is mostly an informational site, a domain where Drupal excels by allowing to precisely categorize content and show it in different ways. The main challenges involved in this project were: the featured carousel on homepage, the Pilot Fatigue structure, the Newsletter integration (Mailchimp), the flexibility for pictures and videos, the contextual sidebar.

DS Estate

  • Drupal
  • Integration
DS Estate screenshot
DS Estate is DS Improve's TYPO3 based product for making real estate websites. After a general introduction, the product is presented with its different base themes, the modules (think about them as options) and some references and partners links. I've integrated and managed this promotional website with Drupal. It was especially useful to integrate the various Modules. Indeed, thanks to some Views, I've built a dedicated Modules menu, visible on each module page and on the introductory modules page with additional information and pricing collected from each module. A bit of Javascript is used for the site menu, a nice fade in effect on the homepage, a catalogue carousel, some tooltips for modules and accordion for DS Estate's base package.

Camario

Camario is a specialized HR Search Firm focused on the recruitment of HR professionals for its clients. The website presents services the company delivers and also helps the future candidate to get a precise idea of the recruiting process thanks to the Your Career page and its steps accordion. A small, quick and nice to do project.
